Taumata Arowai became the drinking water regulator for Aotearoa on 15 November 2021.
Annual Drinking Water Quality and Regulation reports
The Annual Drinking Water Regulation Report (Water Services Act 2021, section 137) will replace the Ministry of Health’s Drinking Water Quality Annual Report.
Taumata Arowai will produce the 2021/22 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report. This will be the last report against the Drinking-water Standards for New Zealand 2005 (revised 2018).
Registered drinking water suppliers should continue to monitor drinking water quality and compliance with the Drinking-water Standards for New Zealand, as they have done to date and maintain records Taumata Arowai will require compliance information from drinking water suppliers serving more than 100 people to complete the 2021/22 Annual Report.
In early 2022, Taumata Arowai will provide more detailed information on how Taumata Arowai will develop the 2021/22 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report.
There will be a change in reporting requirements for the 2022/23 year, so that Taumata Arowai can produce the first Drinking Water Regulation Report, as required by the Water Services Act 2021. We are developing revised reporting requirements and will provide information to registered drinking water suppliers in early 2022.
