End point treatment devices RFI response
At the beginning of the year, the Water Services Authority - Taumata Arowai issued a Request for Information (RFI) via the Government Electronic Tender Service (GETS) to gather insights on the current state of the market for End-point Treatment (EPT) devices. The RFI aimed to achieve two key objectives: first, to better understand the functionality, availability, and costs of EPT systems; and second, to signal the Authority’s future interest and potential engagement in this space.
The information received through this process has informed proposed changes to the Acceptable Solutions. It has provided indicative pricing, revealing that unvalidated systems are approximately 40–50% less expensive than validated options. In addition, suppliers shared insights into emerging technologies, such as LED UV systems, which may offer advantages over traditional mercury-based systems in terms of cost, maintenance, resilience, and operational efficiency.
The summary below outlines the offerings from each respondent, based on the 'Equipment' and 'Installation Requirements' criteria set out in the RFI that we have been advised we can share publicly.
