Summary of submissions: Drinking Water Quality Assurance Rules for small – medium supplies

We recently consulted on changes we’re proposing to make the Rules clearer and simpler for supplies that provide drinking water to 500 or fewer people. 

In September, we sought feedback on proposed improvements to the Drinking Water Quality Assurance Rules (the Rules) for drinking water supplies that serve 500 or fewer people. We received 145 submissions. Overall, there is support for the proposed changes to make the Rules more straightforward and streamlined, and easier to comply with.

The summary provides an overview of all the feedback we received on specific questions, and highlights some of the key themes that emerged.  

We are still considering all the feedback and how we may incorporate it into the updated Rules. We aim to provide confirmation of any resulting amendments and the final updated Rules in early December 2024.
