Register your wastewater network

How to register your wastewater network.

Wastewater networks are defined in the Water Services Act 2021outbound as those networks operated by councils (or their subsidiaries), government departments, and the New Zealand Defence Force.

Registering an existing wastewater network

We’ve set up wastewater network details in our online self-service portal called Hinekōrako. This is the home of the Public Register for Wastewater Networksoutbound (the Register).

We have transferred relevant information about wastewater networks to Hinekōrako. Much of that information is publicly available through Water New Zealand’s National Performance Review or has been passed onto us from the National Transition Unit within the Department of Internal Affairs, where network operators have given sharing permission.

Network owners or operators need to ensure the information for their wastewater networks is correct. Any updates can be made in Hinekōrakooutbound.

View our guide to help you register and verify your wastewater networks.

We published the Register for all wastewater networks on 1 December 2023.
