Each year we produce two reports that provide an overview of the performance of drinking water, wastewater and stormwater networks in New Zealand.
The Drinking Water Regulation Report (DWRR) helps us understand the state of drinking water in New Zealand.
The Network Environmental Performance Report (NEPR) provides insights into the environmental performance and impact of water services networks.
Our Compliance, Monitoring and Enforcement Strategy 2025-28
Our latest Compliance, Monitoring and Enforcement Strategy 2025-28 (CME) provides a three-year action plan for how we will regulate drinking water safety.
It focuses the biggest risks identified in the Drinking Water Regulation Report 2024 (DWRR 2024) and outlines what suppliers need to do to address these. Namely, suppliers improving their systems, practices and infrastructure so that so that everyone has safe drinking water basics in place.
Annual reports
Our Annual Report is prepared for the financial year and evaluates whether we have met our performance indicators and budget projections in the Statement of Performance Expectations.
Statement of Intent and Statement of Performance Expectations
The new Local Government (Water Services) (Repeals and Amendments) Act 2025 introduced changes to the Authority’s statutory objectives, functions and operating principles. As a result of these changes the Authority amended its core accountability documents - the Statement of Intent and Statement of Performance Expectations.
Our Amended Statement of Intent updates our four-year, medium-term strategic plan.
Our Amended Statement of Performance Expectations updates our detailed one-year plan, including performance indicators and budget projections.
These accountability documents are required of all Crown entities.
